EA Hosts a Sims Art Competition

will_wright2.jpg Electronic Arts has come together with Parsons School of Design in New York and Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles to host a competition for art created in or inspired by The Sims. Art displays will include machinima, sculptings, paintings, interactive displays and even fashion designs. Students will be judged in each category and $12,000 in winnings will go to the winner’s schools.

This seems like a perfect extension of The Sims universe. Is this not one of the points of the game, is to create unique and intriguing Sims. I know that EA gets hammered on many occasions regarding their business practices, but this is one time where I feel that they have championed something good that will foster a lot of creativity in these students.

Hmm I wonder if the $ will go to the school itself or the student(s) who design it?

From the way the press release and the story read out, it looks like the schools get the money.
