Capcom reaffirms Resident Evil, more support for Wii.
Those of us with a Wii who’ve been wondering, “where the Capcom at” have something to be pleased about. Capcom has gone on record saying Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is still on track for a 2007 release. Additionally, they’re saying they’ve got more unannounced software on the way, beyond the recently announced Treasure Island Z.
Now of course, it’s not a shocker when any company, particularly a Japanese one, claims they’ll be coming out with some software for Wii. What’s of note is that this is Capcom, who nobody could fault for being a little reticent, shall we say, with development on Nintendo’s console. Indeed, I would be surprised to hear that their successes on the DS didn’t soften them up a little.
I’m looking forward to seeing what direction they go. I’m hoping for something new and pretty deep, but as long as it’s fun, I’m game. What do you want Capcom to bring to the Wii?

“What do you want Capcom to bring to the Wii?”
P.N.04
No seriously. I really liked the first one. With some better and more diverse environments and enemies, that would have been a great game.
You know, you could be right. My understanding was that the major issue with the game was the controls. I remember reading a review that said Vanessa handled like a truck. I wanted that game until I saw all the terrible reviews.
The thing with PN03 was much like a lot of the Wii reviews. The controls were very unorthodox. Much like Metroid prime compared to most FPSs the controls were very jarring at first, but once I got into the mindset of the devoloper (that this was truly a shmup sneakily camouflaged as a 3d action title) I really had a blast with it. As for handling “like a truck”, once you get used to the controls, you realize normal 3d action controls would never work. The controls were actually bizarrely amazing. All the cartwheels, somersaults and dancing. Great idea, but the execution of the levels was poor. Too much repetition and the environment were very stark and spartan. I think they were going for a very sterile feel but it just seems a bit off. I loved the way the music worked with the gameplay, lots of solid techno beats. If you could play your own tunes a la excite truck that would have made it even better. This game won’t quickly leave my collection.
