Screw Driver, Ubisoft. Wii deserve better.

screwdriver.pngUbisoft has apparently dropped their Q1’07 software lineup, and on the list for Windows and Wii is Driver: Parallel Lines, which came out last spring on PS2 and Xbox. Ubisoft’s doing a lot of this. And by “this,” I mean in a horribly specific fashion, porting last generation’s driving games to the Nintendo Wii with lukewarm results.

I like racing games. I’m a big Mario Kart fan, yes, but I like the realistic racing games as well. I’m not into the whole modding-tuning thing. Going fast and sometimes crashing is fun. I liked what I played of Burnout 3 in the PS2 demo, except the car felt like it was floating instead of rolling. I even enjoyed Asphalt Urban GT on my DS at launch, until the first time I crashed. That was pretty darn surreal. I even liked F-Zero GX, but it was way hard.

Anyway, where was I?

Ah yes, last-gen driving games ported to the Wii by Ubisoft. Scores at right are at Metacritic.

I’ve done some fair amount of time playing BO3 on the ps2, it’s the best online experience I’ve ever had. then again I haven’t had that many.Cant really say that the cars felt like there where floating. If I would complain about BO3 I would say the cars had way too much downforce, they keep sticking to the road like a magnet, maybe that floating thing got tweaked after the demo.

Burnout 3 is awesome. They should remake THAT for the Wii.

Yeah, I don’t like the whole remake thing, but if it gets them to support the console more in the future with original IP, I’m ok with it. However, if they are gonna do it, do it with GOOD games! Games that were not on cube and that nintendo fans have not played, i.e. NOT PoP Two Thrones.

The car in the demo felt like it was floating because it was a muscle car.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying. I hadn’t heard of any problems with that in Burnout3, so I assumed it had been addressed in the final build, but it makes sense that it was just the car they offered in the demo.
