Rockstar to use NaturalMotion
The words: “NaturalMotion” and “Euphoria” will be household words in the gaming industry pretty soon, if it isn’t already. Pixelux is the company responsible for the natural, uncanned animations and extremely intelligent AI in upcoming games like Indiana Jones and Star Wars: Force Unleashed. If you check out the latest Star Wars: Force Unleashed development clips on IGN, you’ll see just how awesome this technology is. Imagine having characters think for themselves: In the clips on IGN you’ll witness the speaker throwing a Star Wars character onto a high beam and then watching them grab the pole to save their life anyway they can.
Now Rockstar is adapting to the next phase of gaming intelligence for their upcoming next-gen games. Rockstar hasn’t mentioned exactly what games will use the technology, but you can place some money on Grand Theft Auto 4 to which I’m anxiously awaiting for at the end of this year. I can only imagine how sweet this game will be – along with all the next round of bad but good publicity it will receive for its content. What will next-gen hot chocolate be like? We’ll soon find out.
