Manhunt 2 to Strangle Wii, PS2 and PSP

Submitted by on February 6, 2007 – 4:20 pm5 Comments

wii_choke.jpgRockstar Games has announced that Manhunt 2 is in development for the PlayStation 2, PSP, and the Wii. Rockstar Toronto is handling the Wii version, while Rockstar London will be handling that PSP and PS2 version.

While the original Manhunt was moderately well-received by the gaming media, I personally couldn’t stand it at all. For Manhunt 2 to be of any interest to me, I think I’ll have to play it on the Wii. I can’t think of a more appropriate use for the Wii Remote and Nunchuck than to strangle someone…in a game of course.

Brilliant, Rockstar!

It’s interesting to see Rockstar developing for a Nintendo home console, which has never happened before (they did co-publish an N64 game with Microsoft though). On the other hand, I’m surprised they chose the Manhunt franchise rather than something that has more of a following, like GTA. It is nice however to see another important developer putting something other than a port onto Wii.

unfortunately Stephen, I think this will be no more than a rehashed port of the original Manhunt.

Unfortunate indeed if Manhunt 2 was just a rehash of Manhunt 1. But the original Manhunt was on PS2, just as this will be. Seems unlikely we’d see a rehash of the same game on the same platform.

Nothing could be further from stereotypical Nintendo than Manhunt. “I get anything for little Timmy he wants to play. It IS a Nintendo console after all!”

Look for the auto-erotic asphyxiation mini-game in Wario Ware Smooth Moves 2. I’m thinking it’ll be towards the end of the gameplay experience.

That works, there’s already the mini-game where you knock down the happy girl by slapping her. I crap you not.
