Ikaruga coming to XLA, shooter fans rejoice!

ikaruga-banner.pngJoystiq is reporting from CVG that a build of Ikaruga is on the debug version of Xbox Live Arcade, implying that the full version will appear on Xbox Live Arcade at some point in the future.

This is a brilliant game, perhaps the best shooter I’ve ever played, and perhaps even the best game Treasure’s ever produced. But it is damn hard. I have the Gamecube version.

Any shooter fan with a 360 and access to the Live Arcade owes it to themselves to pick this up. This game will kick your ass all over the place and have you loving every minute of it. If I didn’t already have Ikaruga on Cube, a Wii, and a limited budget, this could be a compelling system seller to me.

I’ve also got Ikaruga for the ‘cube, and that game is some seriously hot stuff. It was also damn near impossible to find. I felt like I’d won a small lottery when I stumbled into an EB Games while on vacation in small-town Ontario and found a used copy.

I was never able to make it past (if I’m remembering correctly) the fifth level. Once those streams of mini-bullets start spiralling out all over the place, I’m toast.

I’m very glad that this game will have the chance to enjoy a wider audience.

An utterly brutal XBLA game that’s a port from older systems is a 360 system seller? That’s crazy talk!

Then again if it’s an excuse to get Uno and the other cool XBLA games and why not Gears of War, Crackdown and that nutty gardening game Viva Pinata. All nice things for a 360, IMHO.

I have no interest in FPS like Gears and Crackdown. And Viva Pinata pales in comparison to its competitors from last gen’s Gamecube offerings, which I can play in my Wii. I’m talking about what could make ME want a 360 if I didn’t have the game.

Of course, even if it were going for $100 used, it would still be cheaper to just buy Ikaruga for Gamecube. And buying a Gamecube AND Ikaruga used still doesn’t even come close to the price of a 360. So never mind.

Well, if it was on XBLA debug, it’s been pulled since then, or they have access to a totally different server.
