Heroes of Clover return as Seeds.
When the closing of Capcom’s Clover Studio was announced last year, its titans scattering from the company and its rank-and-file reabsorbed into the great Capcom, we all thought about its repercussions.
And as seems to be the norm nowadays, the mighty Atsushi Inaba, Hideki Kamiya, and Shinji Mikami have together formed a new company called Seeds, with a staff of 51.
Now, unless this company is going to work for Capcom, we’re not going to see anything related to their earlier IPs coming from them, I would imagine. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Capcom hiring them to make games in the Viewtiful Joe series in particular, seeing as how those have been somewhat lucrative. Which isn’t to say Resident Evil hasn’t, so I would expect they might ask creator Shinji Mikami to consult on future Resident Evil games and pay him well. This is the trend now, the greats of the third party developers quit their jobs in order to get raises. It’s like Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Mistwalker and Masahiro Sakurai‘s Sora Ltd. We should all hope for such fortune.
