I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Heatseeker coming in under the radar.

fighter-jet.pngScrolling through my GameTrailers.com podcast in my iPod today, I came upon a couple of video clips from the upcoming dogfighting game Heatseeker, which is coming to PS2, Wii, and PSP. It’s by IR Gurus Interactive, the AU developer behind Heroes of the Pacific (76/100 on MetaCritic). It’s a pretty low-profile game, I would say, I haven’t heard a whole lot about it. But from what I’m seeing in these videos, it looks like it might be worth a try.

The official site is right here. The videos are on their site when you click “Game Intel”, or you can just go to GameTrailers and see them there. Or watch them below.

I’m fascinated by the “Impact Cam” for some reason, which shows your missiles reaching their target, and the ensuing elaborate explosions, which they claim come in over a hundred varieties. You gotta love the ‘splodes.

I missed out on all these kinds of games last generation. Anyone have any recommendations? The latest word on Heatseeker is projecting that it will hit next month. I’ll be keeping an eye out for previews.

I have the Ace combat games on my PS2 and Top Gun on my gamecube and I was not blown away by any of them.
Ace combat in particular was just too elaborate. You know what game I want? I want “Excite Fighter”.

Yes, I want an Excite Truck like version of a fighter game. I’m really hoping that’s what Heatseeker is.

I want simple yet intuitive controls good graphics (I really like Excite truck graphically) and big over the top style fun. Oh, and a customizable sound track (are you listening IR gurus?). If Heatseeker can do what Excite Truck did for offroad racing, I’ll be owning it for sure.
