Captain Obvious Watch: Crackdown, Halo 3, and Gears on PC

captain_obvious.jpgSo, we had a chance to sit down with some of the guys from GamerScore Blog, Microsoft’s crack squad of community managers, and other members of the “community”. We ate some bacon waffles and had a chance to discuss video games. I’m not sure if you could get a more opinionated group of guys than a dozen bloggers and podcasters. And I’d like to point out that a few members of our little group were really good at making Microsoft guys squirm.

We talked about Crackdown and the general consensus is that we all thought the game was going to absolutely suck, but the demo and some of the other features (more on that tomorrow) have really gotten us turned around. The running gag has been, “Oh yeah, you can buy a copy of the Halo 3 Beta. And they’ll even throw in a free game.”

Well, that may not be the case, at this point. But enough… let’s talk about Gears and Halo 3.

Yes, Gears of War will be released on PC. Microsoft employees are contractually obligated to not discuss it, but I didn’t hear this from a Microsoft employee. It’s pretty much a no-brainer, though. One of the most successful games on the 360, and you don’t think MS will want to milk that in order to drive sales of Vista? Of course they will… I’m sure Halo 3 will be on PC as well. It’s a given.

But when is Halo 3 going to be released? November 21st. Okay? There, I said it. Again, Microsoft employees “don’t know” and “aren’t privy to that information” but my source has said that November 21st is the release date. Again, not a major revelation, I know, but I have confidence in my source.

Another thing I noticed. Microsoft employees have really great poker faces.

I have to agree. I used to have to work with them on occassion and I only got unofficial information once. The only reason they even supplied it was because it was going to help a game get finished a bit quicker.

And don’t try feeding them drinks, it only makes them talk even less. Trust me, I tried. ;P

The Redmond campus is beautiful though, is it not?
