Every once in a while some “news” pops up regarding a black Xbox 360. Why people get so excited over a colour change on a console (sorry, Kat) is anybody’s guess. Maybe it’s simply because one can’t stand one colour forever. A chamaelon console would be cool, but I’m guessing this Xbox on Tweaktown from the Taipei game show is just a dev’ kit. A lazy search on Google results in numerous stories of Black Boxes running wild, but it’s all mere speculation. Won’t someone please point us to a real black box, I’d almost even settle for an off-white just to settle this.

Even Sony took forever to bring another PS2 color other than black to the US, and that was the silver one that hit the UK first.

The only problem with making them in colors is leaving stores with the equivalent of the last lime green pinto on the car lot — a system that works perfectly but is in a color nobody wants. This isn’t a problem for the PS2, but the last thing the PS3 and PSP need are colors getting in the way of sales.

Plus the black PSP is really the best color it could have, c’mon.

One rumor was that the Black Xbox is an HDMI model to be sold in Australia. Whatever, I guess.

If you click on the linked story, and then on the middle pic, you can see there’s a sticker that says, “Reviewer Kit”. I thought I had read somewhere that the debug systems (and also the ones that people who review games) were black, making this a bit of a known point already. And I guess little bit of a non-story.

    Am I completely wrong here?
