Windows Vista’s DreamScene

Bear with me – this could be slightly gaming-related. If you have Windows Vista Ultimate edition, you can download extras from Microsoft’s site, and one of those is DreamScene. You’ll need to enable the Aero theme and have an awesome graphics card (or just one that supports Aero), and DreamScene will let you set any WMV or MPEG video as your animated wallpaper! Imagine having the latest game trailers playing in the background! You just know someone will build a video RSS thingy for this that will switch out your videos, or even a separate app that will support playlists of videos on your own drive. True, some videos as background could be distracting, but you could also get a nice beach scene with waves crashing. A few looping videos are included in the DreamScene package. It will also pause the video if you are on a laptop and switch to battery power to conserve your battery life. I *think* these are intended to be free, and according to the site, if you don’t have Vista Ultimate (or perhaps if you do but don’t have Aero turned on, not sure), DreamScene still has a few extra features, such as new positioning for wallpapers or photos. There’s a video of DreamScene in action at the link below.
P.S. Is this entry not gaming-related enough in your humble opinion? Well I still have something for ya – another Vista Ultimate Extra will be this Texas Hold’Em game.
