old-book.pngA press release on Nintendo’s website is proudly proclaiming that Zelda III is now available on the Wii Shop Channel for 800 points.

And the scowl on my face? Let me see if I can outline this thoroughly.

When Nintendo released the now rare and highly sought-after Zelda Collector’s Edition on Gamecube, they strategically omitted Link to the Past from the disc. The game was already available on a GBA cartridge at the time. I bought the cartridge used and still own it, but because there remains no way to play GBA games on the Wii, the only way I can play the game on the big screen is to use my Gamecube, unless I want to pony up 800 points to buy the game again.

You probably have figured out that I won’t be ponying anything.

Just downloaded it today. I couldn’t be happier. I love the way the Wii saves your gamestate without having to actually use the local games save interface. Now I have 3 Zeldas to play on my Wii. Can’t wait for Zelda II!

    really?
a few years ago, I bought it off of ebay for $20
i wonder how much it would get today…
it’s still in pretty good condition

Sidd, it regularly sells used for close to $50 at Gamestop and EBGames. Zombix, the only port on my Game Boy Player is the GBA accessory port on the front, right above the cartridge slot, flanked by the slots for the accessory cable’s hooks. All other surfaces on it are featureless, including the back.
