Wii has nearly half the 360′s user base already!

wii_200701.pngSix weeks in, it looks like the Wii has nearly half of the 360′s user base already. This is big news, as echoed by Bill Harris on DubiousQuality here. He cites rough estimates of 3.83 million Wii’s shipped worldwide to the 360′s 8.13 million.

He also echoes the news that PS3′s are now available at a variety of offline and online retailers, assumes that demand has gone soft, and cites that Wii’s are still sold out everywhere. Nintendo seems to have a very early big winner on its hands.

Bill is wondering what Microsoft and Sony can do to spur console sales, and basically he says they’ll need to cut console prices. Microsoft is definitely in a position to do that, but Sony with a new console isn’t exactly in the cost-cutting catbird seat.

All those consoles and no games till next Christmas. For $250, it’s a big’ol “What the hell.”

To each his own I guess. I’m excited about multiple titles on Wii as well as 360 in 2007 prior to next christmas. Add those to my back catalog and I the back catalog will likely only get bigger.

That “next Christmas” delay is still just a rumor.

Dunno but I get the feeling that Wii really doesn’t compete with the xbox360 or the PS3 Nintendo found a new market. They said that they weren’t aiming for the hardcore market and from the looks off it, they really don’t. The other 2 companies can do a price cut (would be glad if they did) but it will not change the mind of the typical Wii buyer.
