What’s On Your Weekend Gaming Agenda?

Submitted by on January 5, 2007 – 10:34 am7 Comments

Princess_Peach.jpgThe NFL playoffs start this Saturday, so what better weekend to put the games aside!? Hah, yeah right, that made me laugh.

So what are you playing this weekend? I know that I’m going to take a stab at finally getting my ratty copy of Sacred installed on my PC. I’ll probably continue to carve through Portable Ops on Saturday but Sunday will be devoted to Jets/Giants playoff games, with a little gaming with my guests scattered before and after.

Princess Peach has totally hooked my Gamer Chick. She played her girlfriend’s copy and before long, I had surrendered my holiday gift cards so she could pick it up. I get questions about it now and again, I’m sure I’ll be toying around with that as well.

If only Leon Washington had a ANGRY button that make him burst into flames and fly. Then maybe the Jets would have a chance this weekend. :’-(

Tonight I will visit a PS3 and try to put even more distance between my PSN account’s Blast Factor high score and the one held by the system’s owner.

My PSP has gone to live on a farm, and its replacement is a couple of weeks away.

The MGS3S I had is scratched and I’ll maybe see a replacement from GameFly around Easter the way they ship things.

My used copy of GTA: Liberty City Stories for the PS2 might show up from GameFly today. I’d be happy to see Tony again.

That leaves two new games I got for Christmas for the weekend: Destroy All Humans and Resident Evil 4. I’ll probably play DAH first, even if reviewers didn’t love it. I’ll break it down to its component parts.

Or I’ll play Sacred online for a while and polish off my detailed review of the game for posting here. This is the most likely thing to happen because the game is engrossing and addicting enough that playing it is like eating snack food without the sudden realization two hours later that you ate the whole bag. The game is just too big eat any sizable piece of it within a three or four hour gaming period.

I just installed 3.03 OE on my PSP so I’m going to be compressing FFVII and play it for the first time. Likewise, I might play some GBA and NES roms with a couple emulators I want to try out and that’s about it. Oh, and Gunstar Heroes for the Wii.

I’m going to finish up Final Fantasy X and start on X-2.

Qbix, you’re brave. I’m too much of a chicken to install that… I am afraid I’d brick my PSP.

Definately gonna work on Zelda: TP for Wii. But I’ve been sick all week, so I might just leave the house because I have energy to move. SIKE! Gaming all weekend!

Also: are we ever gonna do an aeropause game night where we play with the readers? we could have a tournament and the winner could get something, im sure ive got some things i could sacrifice to the reader who beats me in mariokart DS.

@Kat: Thanks, but it’s not a scary thing to attempt if you follow the instructions correctly. I think the main thing is knowing if your PSP is hackable (right motherboard model and low enough firmware version). If it is, then all there is to it is downgrade to 1.5 and finally apply 3.03 OE.I admit it, bricking my PSP was always one of my worries which is the reason I dug enough information about the process to feel comfortable doing it myself. I suggest reading all kinds of tutorials people have created. Pay special attention to the readmes inside every hack you download but don’t try anything until you are damn sure that what you are trying to do should theoretically work and that you know what needs to happen every step of the way.Dark_AleX’s hack is truly amazing and worth the effort, but if it’s still scary to you, just abandon the idea. Perhaps you’ll try with a future release

More Twilight Princess for me, more Portrait of Ruin, and I’m sure I’ll play Trauma Center: Second Opinion, which just arrived today. Got to leave time to clean up the house and hang some more pictures, finish unpacking from the move months ago!

Paul, you’re considering getting rid of your PSP? Not a bad idea to do so before the bottom drops out on the price.
