Warheads.jpgI’m going to preface this post with one important message: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is awesome. I’m ten hours in and it just keeps getting more and more addicting. Right now, I’m basically running side missions and kidnapping any soldier and scientist I can get my hands on. I’m hoping to find some special, Dolph Lundgren-ish ultra soldier to do my bidding.

In such an polished game, it’s surprising to get slapped in the face with a blatant error like the one above. The Metal Gear Solid series has prided itself in drawing in its audience but reading something like this pulled me right out, even for just a moment.

I got a chuckle out of it so I figured I’d share. It’s far from the worst offense that I’ve seen, but it’s still pretty glaring when you take Kojima’s sterling record into consideration.

.::: Well, your “it’s audience” blatantly slapped me in the face as well. ;)

    And indeed, an excellent game.

    Vincent,

Oooh yeah, little ‘ there that shouldn’t be. It be fixed. At least this isn’t burned onto a UMD.

Actually, thank GOD it isn’t…in so many ways.

The search for a Dolph Lundgren supersoldier indeed! My wife would completely approve.

Nothing is as jarring as playing through one of the great Metal Gear cut scenes and having your scratched rental disc end your progress by refusing to play back the video.

Konami’s localization really does suck. I was very dissapointed with the opening dialog in Portrait of Ruin. Dawn of Sorrow had multiple, serious errors.

The original Metal Gear (NES) Had tons of grammar errors, too. So I wasn’t surprised to see the same happen with portable ops… they shouldve stuck to voice acting, and that wouldn’t have happened.
