Ones to Watch: February 2007 Wii Releases

Submitted by Stephen Munn on January 31, 2007 – 12:00 pmComments

kissing-children.pngAh, February. Valentine’s Day. Impossibly frigid temperatures. Video games. Our alliances are clear. Let’s make with the gamey goodness. Could I have used a worse word than gamey?

Tuesday, February 12th:
WII PLAY
From the official site:

In addition to the shooting gallery and Mii-matching game, Wii play offers billiards, air hockey, tank battles, table tennis rally, Mii poses and a cow-riding race.

That’s eight games. The Wikipedia entry says the ninth game is fishing. Wii Play is expected to be the standout title on WIi this month, particularly with a Wii Remote bundled with the game. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is very hard to find for those who did not preorder.

Tuesday, February 20th:
SONIC and the SECRET RINGS
From the official site:

Perhaps instead of calling it the "standout" title I should refer to it as the "biggest" title. I'm confident it will outsell Sonic regardless of merit. It's worth noting that a $50 package that comes bundled with a $40 controller means the game is $10. As you said, if you need the controller, it's a great deal.
  • um... I hate to break it to you, but wii play is not the standout title for February. It's crap :)

It's worth picking up once, but only if you need the extra controller. It *might* last you half an hour if you've never used a wii before, because that's all it's intended to be.

Just look at any European review of it ;)
