New SMB styli are the bee’s knees.

stylus-tip.pngThese jobbies are hardly new-new, but they do go with New Super Mario Bros, which has new in the name. It does, really, just look at it, it’s there at one end of the name.

These official styli are Japan-only stuff, because NOA does not love us as much as NOJ loves them. That’s OK, we’ve got import shops, and those are some of my favorite places to shop. The particular two we have were gifts for my wife and me from her brother. He picked up a batch for their new DS Lites and gave us two from the set. Click on for pictures and links to where you can get them.

You can buy the set of six or individual ones at NCSX. Not sure where my brother-in-law got ours. I have the brick block, and my wife’s got the super mushroom.

They’re surprisingly comfortable to hold and use, and they clip nicely to the side of a good case, like the one I recommended in the fanboys’ buyer guide.

Nintendo has gone crazy with these in Japan. I picked these up from a Gashapon machine my last time in Tokyo in October. They are surprisingly comfortable. They also recently put out Animal Crossing versions and I think some other game version of these. It’s both good and bad how nice NOJ is to their consumers. Good for my collectibles and bad for my bank account. Late this year they released a motherload of accessories for the DS Lite and tons of gashapon, plushes and phone straps.

If you ever want to check out the stuff that’s getting released, check out Banpresto’s Japanese website. It’s all in Japanese but it’s simple to find your way around if you can’t read it. Just go by the pictures or the link names. Some of it is in english. They keep a list of both past and recent stuff. Here’s a link to their product page.

Those are awesome! Why do we – Europe in this case – never get stuff like that.
