I would peg this as being of huge importance. Not only is this good because it means that Nintendo is doing well with people who did not buy the GC last gen, but because it means that the casual gamer who was "invested" in another brand is very open to a new experience. As a hardcore gamer, I always imagine that gamers will most likely stick with their favorites. People who owned xboxes will own 360s, people who owned gamecubes will own Wiis etc. This simple statement shows that this is not always the case. Last gen numbers do not equal next gen sales. This is good news for the big N.
