psp_3konamishooters_rounded.pngMobileTechReview will occasionally have a review of a PSP game that’s been out for a while, but today I noticed a trio of import title reviews. All three are Konami shooter collections for the PSP, and they all get very good reviews with special mention of great menus, some very good configuration options, and excellent emulation.

Pariodius Portable is a collection of five Parodius games with excellent emulation and screen sizing options.

Salamander Portable is a collection of four Salamander games, which are considered a spinoff of Gradius, with Gradius II thrown in for good measure. This collection features settings for adjusting screen sizes, shows previews of each game on the menu, and each game plays very well on the PSP’s screen.

TwinBee Portable is a five-game collection of the cute-style TwinBee shooter games. The presentation is excellent, including a music player for all the music on the disc, and MTR briefly reviews each of the games separately.

There are links to the official Komani sites for each of those games in the MTR reviews, so click on through and check’em out if you’re into that sort of thing.

I know a certain Nintendo and shooter fan that probably wishes he had a PSP right about now.

He means me, folks. I’m eating sunflower seeds and having trouble opening them, he figures the PSP’s just about the right size and weight.

If I had a PSP I’d be playing Mega Man Powered Up.

Argh…I hate being broke. I’ve been waiting for those games for quite awhile now. Especially Parodius and Twinbee. If only…T_T

Yep. I remember years ago reading about parodious and laughing at the concept. I think that would have been like 1992?

  • Kia

I’m not sure exactly…I know the GB Parodius came out in ’91 though, so even before ’92 at the very least.

Hah sunflower seeds! I got a good laugh out of that one.

As for the years they showed up, the mini-reviews for each game within each collection shows the original year of release.
