Here We Go Again – BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

mikebuffer.jpgThere is a forum post that originated somewhere in Japan that states tomorrow we will see an announcement that could very well end the console war (their words not mine). There is mass speculation about what this could be and some believe it is Konami related. That does not sound earth shattering to me but if the announcement is MGS4 on the 360 then it is a big deal but unlikely to get Sony to call it quits. I have put the forum post below and you can read it and create your own hypothesis. The post was simple with the below keywords that are supposed to be clues about the announcement.

“This announcement will be a shocking one. It will mark an end to the next-gen war and bring peace to the Gaming Hardware Board.

The key words are:

-zokuhen (sequel)
-iten (transfer)
-chushi (cancellation)
-kotai (change,as in change of the guard)
-sonzoku (continue to exist)

    If MGS came out on the 360 that would just devastate the PS3. But it’s always been Sony-exclusive, so I don’t see that happening. Hmm…what could it be?

    Why would I not be surprised if they announced something dumb, like another great Samurai Warriors game will be PS3 exclusive for 2 days…

    If it’s something that will bring peace to the hardware board, I have a feeling it’s going to be a multi-sku release. Same game, released on all three consoles.

    My guess : it’s a multi platform MMO based on Bubble Bobble.

    ooooh…. i’m intrigued.

    the only thing i can think of that’s both in the realm of possibility and “console war ending” is mgs moving to xbox 360 — not just cross-platform, but moving.

    tho, that’s not even so much a big deal. afterall, mgs isn’t even in that top 20 franchise list. it’s about cash, not a vocal fan base.

    gran turismo (ha!) or final fantasy might be more exciting. tho, gt isn’t ever moving and ff has been multiplatform before.

    nah. i’d bet (if it’s really a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT and not ibm partnering with nintendo on their chipsets…) that it’s just mgs going cross-platform.

    to which all the 360 owners in the world will go, “duh.”
