Guitar Hero 2 360 Won’t Have Online Multiplayer?

empty_hall.jpgEver since Guitar Hero 2 was announced for the 360, I’ve had one major question about the title. How will they be able to handle the lag in the online play. Lumines Live is noticably laggy and it’s easy to see what kind of obstacle GH2 is facing. Music and fighting games are all timing. If it’s not 100% precise, it loses a little of it’s luster. Lumines Live is still fun but it can be a little maddening from time to time.

I guess I’m the last person to find out that, according to Gamepro, Guitar Hero 2 will apparently NOT have any online multiplayer. They’ll have online leaderboards and downloadable music, but no multiplayer component over Live at all. While I wasn’t sold on buying this game even with online multiplayer, the game without it is nothing more than a pretty PS2 port.

For an $89 price tag, no thanks.

That sucks but for those of us who don’t have this game or a PS2 for that matter, buying this game is a must. The only times I got to play it was at BestBuy and there was usually a guy breathing down my neck as soon as I picked up the guitar waiting to show me how much he pwned with his rhythmic skills. Anyhow, I am looking forward to this title regardless of the absence of live multiplayer. At least we’ll be able to download songs off marketplace, so there’s an upside :)

James Munn thank you for posting the stupidest comment ever. Guitar Hero 2 is simply sickening. You probably have 50-60 video games in your room and whine about and extra $25. If you are content with ignoring all the praise and recogniton GH2 has gotten, or you are too uncoordinated to play it, have fun playing your 15 repetative-as-hell first person shooter games. Cry about no online multiplayer nerd.
