God of War II will be Delicious, Exquisite Violence

gow2logo_roundedcorners.pngI really enjoyed God of War on the PS2 last year, and new videos of the action over at IGN have me desparately craving its sequel. It’s been bumped back a bit, to mid-March from the previous general “February” release time period, so I’ll have to wait and just keep replaying the great Greek attack footage at IGN.

Even in the low-res videos the game really looks fabulous, and the supercharged action gameplay has my mouth watering at the brutality of it all. The effortless combos, the punishing ways of dispatching your foes, and the mini-game boss takedowns are all beautiful, beautiful things. It’s delicious and exquisite violence that I am very much looking forward to.

All it needs to make a run at the hyper-stylized 3rd-person-action melee crown currently worn by Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition is to have an arena mode a whole lot like the Bloody Palace with waves of progressively tougher enemies and maybe boss battles thrown in. Couple that with a central save profile just like DMC3SE’s so you can hammer away at the survival/bloody palace mode for currency and then spend it in-game to keep moving ahead or unlock extras and I’d be in heaven.

Anything you want to see in God of War II?

Sure, the Cod of war suite.I’ll be honest here, I’ve played that game and it was not a bad experience but when I finished the game after 9 hours or something, I lost total interest, couldn’t be bothered by it and sold the game. God of War II has to bring something completely new to the table before I’m goin to get it.But yeah, the game is gorgeous to look at.

Yep, I also sold it not long after completing it.

I agree that there was no longevity to it and no reason to keep playing once it was overwith. Having a survival mode would definitely give it that pick-up-and-play fun factor to keep it around.
