What if Sony Fails?
There is no doubt Sony has made mistakes [as James has already pointed out] with the PS3, and in all reality these mistakes will cost them some market-share. Although what would gaming be like if Sony stopped making consoles all together. Would there be enough room on the market for another company to come forward with new hardware. Can you say “Samsung Playbox”…probably not! It might sound crazy, but with the recent shakeup of management at Sony this is a real possibility now. If the PS3 fails it would almost be assured that we would not see a PS4. Sega tried many times to win back the hearts of gamers and we all know how that turned out for them.
If Sony left Microsoft and Nintendo on their own in the next console cycle who would win? Would Nintendo finally make a machine worthy of all graphic whores? Would Microsoft feel complacent and slack off a few features since they now have less competition? The war between console manufacturers is what has always seemed to drive the innovation forward. If the competition ceases to exist will game systems stop evolving and become carbon copy after carbon copy. I actually hope that the PS3 ends up with a modicum of success in order to keep each company on its toes. If a company sees an area where they can cut back they will but with competition they are forced to keep the best tech in their machines. So even if you hate the PS3, 360 or Wii, just think what things might be like without them.
What do you think will happen if there is no PS4? Let us know in the comments section.
