The HD disk format wars are over.
The Inquirer has a new opinion piece up describing the undisputed winner of the HD disk format wars that seem to have just gotten started. With Blu-ray and HD-DVD slugging it out in the trenches of only the high-end videophile’s living rooms, you’d think it would take a bit longer than a few months to see the clear winner. Charlie Demerjian lists all of the negatives of each side, followed by a snap judgement in favor of the best way to see video content, high-def or not: piracy.
Sure, piracy is free, but price isn’t what gets him angry about what the Blu-ray and HD-DVD camps have done to screw over the consumer in so many ways. See just what he’s talking about here. While Aeropause doesn’t condone piracy, and I personally don’t condone it either, it’s hard to reward these two camps buy buying their disc format. Of course, I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with good old DVD and still see many years left in that disc format but who am I? I’m just a consumer, what do I know.
