Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Jabbing PS3

Tekken_5_DR.pngWell here’s some interesting PS3 news for today. Famitsu has announced that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection will be ported from the Arcade onto the PS3 and will be distributed via download only. According to the early resources, it’s going to be showcased in full 1080p. Don’t even bother considering online play, it’s not going to happen.

Tekken: DR was already ported from the arcade to the PSP, wtih stunning results. I would expect a seamless transition to the PS3 as well, however Tekken 5: DR was built on a PS2-based engine. I’m sure this is why they’re going to make it available for download, because it’ll basically be a PS2 game on the PS3.

I’m not the least bit surprised about this, for one simple reason. The PSP version of Dark Resurrection is entitled, “Tekken Dark Resurrection” not “Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection”. That’s always left the door open, in my opinion. The only surprising piece is that Namco is making this available for download (for a fee, of course) and not milking us with a last-gen port at full retail price.

If Namco Bandai was planning a port, I really would have rather seen, “Tekken Tag Tournament 2″ instead of another DR rehash. Just a quick note: I bought a PS2 for Tekken so I’m the biggest gad damn Tekken fan in existance.

James is such a fan and highly-skilled Tekken player that he has been known to play against his friends using only his feet. And he can still beat them soundly.

For fun, he has even played head-to-head with a friend with both of them using DDR mats to control their fighters. And he still won.

Indeed. If you want to feel your heart bash against your rib cage, play Tekken with a DDR mat. Just have cold compresses nearby.
