Snake? SNAKE!? SNAAAAAAAKE!?
As they say in the video game rumor mill, "rumors about the 360 are almost always true." The most recent rumor involving MGS4 to the 360 is juicy indeed, especially when Konami speaks out to debunk it yet only accomplishes to fuel it further.
TeamXbox seems to have brought the story out to the masses first, apparently numerous fansites have stated Konami is interested in bringing Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360. While this can’t be any big surprise, Kojima has already stated that the game can run on a 360, the rumor mill began to churn.
Then quite surprisingly, Konami responded to the rumor. Unfortunately, instead of quelling the fears of Sony fans everywhere, Konami’s comments contained three special words;
"…at this time."
Well, here’s their entire comment via Computer and Video Games;
"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."
What does this mean? CandVG seems to think the PS3 version will be exclusive for at least a year and then expect Konami to roll it out to the 360. I can understand why they feel that way, that’s always been the strategy in the past.
I don’t doubt the title will hit the 360 in an enhanced, Xbox Live friendly form. With an expected late-fall 2007 release of MGS4 and taking fiscal year into consideration, I’ll go out on a limb and say MGS4 will hit the 360 no later than nine months after the PS3 release.
