Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Snake? SNAKE!? SNAAAAAAAKE!?

Snake Hiding From Xbox 360As they say in the video game rumor mill, "rumors about the 360 are almost always true."  The most recent rumor involving MGS4 to the 360 is juicy indeed, especially when Konami speaks out to debunk it yet only accomplishes to fuel it further.

TeamXbox seems to have brought the story out to the masses first, apparently numerous fansites have stated Konami is interested in bringing Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360. While this can’t be any big surprise, Kojima has already stated that the game can run on a 360, the rumor mill began to churn.

Then quite surprisingly, Konami responded to the rumor. Unfortunately, instead of quelling the fears of Sony fans everywhere, Konami’s comments contained three special words;

 "…at this time."

Well, here’s their entire comment via Computer and Video Games;

"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."

What does this mean?  CandVG seems to think the PS3 version will be exclusive for at least a year and then expect Konami to roll it out to the 360.  I can understand why they feel that way, that’s always been the strategy in the past.

I don’t doubt the title will hit the 360 in an enhanced, Xbox Live friendly form.  With an expected late-fall 2007 release of MGS4 and taking fiscal year into consideration, I’ll go out on a limb and say MGS4 will hit the 360 no later than nine months after the PS3 release.

    The key thing here is that they did not say exclusive. Just like AC. No one ever said it was exclusive, only that it was for PS3. But then again, madden is also for ps3 and every other platform under the sun.

    It’s code. It is saying to sony: “give us a reason not to stab you in the back.”
    and the MS: “Give us a reason to stab Sony in the back.”

    Whoever can pony up the yen fastest will likely get their way. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if MS pays out the nose for this, simply because the know that they will prevent the sales of PS3′s.

    Oh yeah, when it comes to ponying up no one can compete with Microsoft.

    Yep. I can’t accurately comment on time frames or whatnot, but I firmly believe, if MS wants this franchise on 360, they will have it. Kojima is NOT in love with any one platform and he has a lot of ego that would be nicely stroked if MS made his game available to a huge number of additional gamers.
