The abysmally-rated Left Behind game is getting a sequel and some help. Big Huge Games, developer of Rise of Nations, is going to give the game another chance with a sequel. In order to get the attention of gamers, to save their souls or whatever the Left Behind ulterior motive is, it needs to be a *good* game, if not great.

Over at Opposable Thumbs, Ben’s making a noble effort to read the first book of the Left Behind series to get some back story. I have a shortcut – read the Left Behind kids’ series. While the “adult” series was expanded from an original 12 books to 16, the kids’ series spans a mind-boggling 40 volumes; however, the volumes are much smaller and easier to read. I gave up after kids’ book 8, I think, back when I was in my church days, and never made it through the first adult-series book. (And that’s even though I love to read and was already an adult at the time.) The kids’ series parallels the adult series, only it focuses on the teenagers that were left behind, but since everything happens on the same timeline, and the kids’ series does discuss the adults, it’d be far easier to plod through.
