Return Fire, Live Arcade Style
Yesterday’s Live Arcade release went largely unnoticed, except to the hordes of happy Xbox Live gamers. If you haven’t played it yet, fire up your 360 and download the trial of Assault Heroes. This is the definition of what Xbox Live Arcade; quick fun games that let you blow things up with friends. The closest thing I can compare the gameplay to is maybe Jackal or a jeep-only version of Return Fire.
The video might not blow your mind, but trust me that the game looks great in full HD. Fire it up with a local friend or over xbox live and it’s going to be a blast. I have yet to try the Xbox Live co-op but when I do, I’ll toss up some impressions. Of course, you can drop your impressions in the comments section.
If reviews are your thing, IGN dropped an 8.7 on Assault Heroes calling it, “the king of Xbox Live Arcade.” Not too shabby.

We needed a top-down shooting game on Live Arcade. This game almost went under my radar. “Assault Heroes” sounds like a name you would give a low budget title on the original Xbox. Likewise, the buzz about other Arcade games like Small Arms and RoboBlitz kinda minimized the attention given to this game. All of this in addition to the fact that gameplay videos don’t do justice to how fun this game is. Definitely deserves anywhere between 8.5 to a 9 in my opinion. Geometry Wars is still my favorite though. So, people, do as you are told: “fire up your 360 and download the trial of Assault Heroes”
