PS3 better with scratched discs

It seems, with some informal library DVD testing, that the PS3 handles scratched DVDs better than the 360. Opposable Thumbs’ Ben said that the PS3 played all the scratched discs that the 360 choked on. Is the PS3′s internal technology better, or does Sony maybe have better firmware? Who knows.

I think it’s a bit of both – firmware and technology. I mean it’s Sony. They’ve had decades of practice with their own CD players, DVD players, TV’s etc. They have a leg up in that department.
It has nothing to do with the disc or the system. It’s the laser design. Since the PS3 has a higher end laser it’s able to read better. Just like how your PC can read CDs and DVDs that your DVD player can’t. It all has to do with the laser aperture.
my sega saturn reads my audio-CD’s better than ps2, xbox PC
finally something that crap ps3 will be good at.. everybody knows blue ray is gonna fail, like minidisk, umd and everything sony tried to impose us..
