Handhelds Rule the Roost This Week

Ruin&Snake.jpgOnce again, the next generation newcomers aren’t posting anything worth our dollar this week. (Unless of course you count the new Virtual Console titles that hit today.) The retail front is ruled by the handhelds this week and for once, PSP and DS owners can dance together as A+, semi-original titles hit their platforms tomorrow.

The DS has the perennial 2D monster hit Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Apparently, this time without the gimmicky stylus inputs, focusing on the hardcore button pressing of old. Japan hates it, which means more Belmont for us. I’m glad this is coming, the positive DS news has gone a little quiet due to the shadow of the massive Wii. Okay, I just creeped myself out right there.

The PSP has Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops gracing the system. The sequel to MGS3, is the first full-blown MGS title on the PSP. I’m really glad I played MGS3, because it revived my love for the franchise after the lackluster MGS2. I’m looking forward to the online multiplayer in this, at the very least.

Full weekly release list if you click through. Anyone picking something up or is everyone saving their cash for Christmas? Geez, it’s only three weeks away already?
