Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Frivolous Gaming Purchase of the Day

Woody_Faceplate.jpgWandering through Toys “R” Us today, I noticed a pile of Xbox 360 faceplaces laying in a bargain bin. I wasn’t too surprised, most online retailers are blowing these faceplates out for about $10.

Toys “R” Us had their faceplates discounted to just over seven bucks. As far as I’m concerned, anything gaming related that can be paid for using the loose cash in my pocket is fair game. I had joked with friends in the past about getting the “woody” faceplace for my 360, which would match my wall unit perfectly. So there is is, I pulled the trigger.

Did any of you ever pick one of these up? You can send pictures of them to james@aeropause.com and I’ll toss them on the site for all to behold. If you’d rather abuse me for buying the hideous thing on the left, that’s fine too. I think I deserve it.

Sadly I’ve bought a few faceplates, but I’ve only ever used the E305 faceplate with the kick ass green rings. It looks sweet and a regular 360 just doesn’t have the same pop to me.

I didn’t buy that one but received as a present from a friend on the 360 team. It’s totally cool and definitely a nice upgrade from the standard 360 faceplate. Not quite as cool as the E3 ’05 rings one, but definitely still cool.

I don’t know, I think the wood print faceplate is great, especially if it matches your furniture. I’ve got a pine/oak tone TV stand, a charcoal gray TV, a silver DVR/cable box, a black DVD player and stereo with silver speakers, and my Wii is going to be white. If everything had faceplates, I could make it all match, which would be nice, if unnecessary.

I picked up a nice Gears of War Faceplate. Since the 360′s launch I have wanted a nice faceplate but until now I never saw one that was worth paying for.

So $7 for a piece of plastic worth about 20 cents is a bargain but $5 for Zelda on VC is just too much.

    What’s this world coming to?
