Burnout 5 To Be Developed For PS3, Ported To 360
While you’re reading this, you may know that I’m a recovering PS2 fanboy. It’s a struggle each and every day, but I’m getting there. I go to meetings, I even have an old DualShock controller that I kick before I leave the house everyday. It’s a work in-progress, sure, but I’m getting there. I have an Xbox 360 and now spend the majority of my gaming on that system and my PSP, they’ve got what I need. There’s no doubt about that.
The love affair between game developers and Sony is quicky fading away in the next generation (or isn’t it now…the current generation?) as well. Third Party exclusives are now virtually non-existant and I think in many ways, we’re all better off because of it.
In contrast, it seems Burnout developer Criterion still has a crush on Sony. They’ve stated that they plan on developing Burnout 5 on the PS3 hardware first, then porting that over to the 360,

Bunch of clowns, they made Burnout on the Gamecube first.
I’ve played bo3 and bo4 on my ps2. Bo3 is the only game I’ve put some decent time in playing it online. Bo3 was a good game, still play it at times. But Bo4 (on the ps2) was a complete mess.
It had all kind of glitches, some really serious like falling in a big blue space under the road without any reason, the one hit touchdown was an other, battling online wasn’t possible on bo4 as soon you hit a opponent one of the two would get a takedown.
So my point is that its a sad day when Criterion consider themself “specialists on the Sony system”.
Why? I mean, PS3 is less powerful than 360. So doesn’t that mean the game will be developed not to full potential? I mean Burnout 4 is great so I expect 5 should just blow me away. But if they ARE developing mainly on the PS3 system the game will probably suck a bit. It’s probably going to have slow load times, which it already suffers from, and even worse music than it already has. Good thing you can use MP3s in the game. Plus the development will probably take over a year if it’s mainly on PS3.
