Blue Dragon Outsells Everything Wii in Japan

Submitted by on December 14, 2006 – 12:09 pm3 Comments

Frozen_Hell.jpgAccording to Media Create, from December 4th through 10th the Xbox 360′s long-awaiting RPG Blue Dragon reached #4 in Japan’s sales charts. Even more surprising is that Blue Dragon actually spanked Nintendo’s Twilight Princess – and every other piece of Wii software – in Japan.

Due to this very surprising news, please be on the lookout for any of the following:

    Can’t wait till pigs fly.

  • Subnet6

Hopefully the numbers keep going up. The Blue Dragon rank is nice but 80K would be a weak number on any console besides the 360.

People buy Wii software with their Wii purchase, which isn’t happening since they are sold out. And the people who bought Wii’s have not been out buying more software yet.

While this IS a victory for MS, it’s rather hollow. Hopefully they can repeat it when the numbers are more meaningful.

Meaningless? Not really. It shows that they have a game that can attract the Japanese to buy a system they’d otherwise look right over. And with those sales so high, you can (POSSIBLY) bet a good percentage of those game sales are with a 360 as well. And to outsell the hometown game, Twilight Princess? If that isn’t impressive, you better look again at the country this is all happening in.

The real challenge will now be to release more games to keep the Japanese content with their 360s.
