Bionic, Cheaper 360 Delayed to Mid-2007?
Xbox 360: Video game console. A console barely alive. We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Cooler…quieter…cheaper.
According to a report, the new 65nm, cooler and quieter Xbox 360 that was originally planned to be released in early 2007 has been delayed to mid-2007. Chartered, a key contributor to the beastly 90nm 360 processor, originally signed with Microsoft for the new 65nm SOI (silicon cooling) technology to begin manufacturing in 2007.
I could really go for one of these new 360′s. My system fires up like a prop plane and it’s pretty frightening. It also quietly squeals and gurps to itself when running Gears of War. It’s a launch system and overall I’ve been pretty lucky with it, no repairs or returns have been necessary.
The new system will apparently save Microsoft some cash which they could then pass onto the marketplace. As for a price drop, that can only be a good thing. I think Microsoft is enjoying their lead right now but won’t hesitate to twist the knife in Sony any chance they get.
How’s your 360 holding up and when this new rig arrives, will you upgrade?
