360 Owners File Lawsuit Against Microsoft

Submitted by on December 6, 2006 – 11:18 am7 Comments

lawsuit 360.jpgA group of 360 owners who claim that their consoles broke after the recent fall update have decided to take Microsoft to court over the issue. While I have no problem with people suing large corporations I think this suit has some serious holes in it that, in the end, will go Microsoft’s way. First off they have absolutely no evidence that it was the fall update that caused their consoles to crash. Second there are millions of consoles out there that got the update with no issues whatsoever, and third Microsoft has more money then GOD!

If I was in the shoes of the defendants and my 360 broke after an update I would be upset, but I would not be as dumb or as immature as to gather a group of people together in order to get enough media attention to force a settlement. Grow up and get off your mom’s sofa and get a job so you can get your 360 repaired!

Sure I’m a jerk, and probably going to be the only one to notice or at least point it out but…

They should have bought a 2 yr warranty (like i did) when purchasing your system.
I had random crash issues, just took it back and got a new one…

My friend had a 360 for 3 months, he got the update and it wouldn’t turn on after that, he called microsoft and they refused to help him out at all. So now he’s out a 360 unless he wants to pay to get it fixed. Is it a lot to ask that you expect a product like a video game console to last more than 3 months? Let them sue microsoft, they won’t win anything, but at least it will make the problem more known.

Bill’s right. If Microsoft bricks your console, it’s up to them to fix it or replace it. I’m surprised Microsoft has balked at doing this, if they have. (I haven’t seen any specific complaint about this.)

Now if these individuals did something else to their console, something that voids the basic warranty that is unrelated to the bricking of the system by the firmware, then perhaps Microsoft has a legal leg to kick them to the curb with.

the real Question is can M$ not afford to replace the systems with bad press people might be perswaded not to get a 360 this chirstmas and get the Wii Or Ps3

I’m one of the lucky thousands who’s console was bricked by the Nov 30 update. This is not a small issue. A little research into this subject matter brings up a very heated issue.

Check out the thread on Xbox’s own forums :

    http://forums.xbox.com/ShowPost.aspx?PageIndex=1&PostID=8741361

It has over 2300 posts and over 103,000 reads within 42 days. This is only one of MANY on Xbox’s own forums.

This isn’t an attention grab, its a real issue.
