Will PSOne Downloads Require a PS3?

PSM_Recent.jpgThe current rumor all over the interweb is that PSOne downloads will only be possible when downloaded from a Playstation 3. This started from the PSP’s Firmware 3.0 users manual becoming available before it’s release on Sony’s website. It states in the Game>Using Playstation

    There’s also another mention of the PS3 later in the manual. It states that you have to plug your PSP into your PS3 (via USB cable) to initiate the game download.
    I’m curious if there are any references in the PS3 manual about this connectivity. The mention of the PLAYSTATION kiosk is an interesting alternative to having the PS3, there’s already been mention of media and demo access at kiosks so why not include game downloading?
    Who knows, a future PSP firmware might open up the service but right now Sony has some ‘splainin to do.
