PSOne Titles Priced; File Sizes Revealed

Diablo_PSone.jpgSony revealed the pricing structure of their PSOne emulated titles today. A Sony rep told Gamespot that the company is “shooting to have the PSone titles available by the end of this month.” Phil Harrison informed them that PSOne titles will be priced from $5.99 to $10.99 with file sizes ranging from 140mb to 550mb.

I’m pretty impressed that a multi-disc Final Fantasy title is going to fit into a 550mb file. I guess compression technology has made it possible to make that happen, unless Sony is going to sell each disc separately. I want me some Diablo (hopefully with multiplayer) and Final Fantasy VIII and IX, hopefully they hit the Playstation Network soon.

It’s actually pretty easy. Most FF games can be compressed to less than 100MB per disc if you rip the movies. Of course, you’d be missing a lot of plot if that were done… but there are other methods as well. I’d be very impressed if they managed to fit a whole three-disc FF game with movies into 550MB, though.

Mitch: I’m excited to see how those vids will carry over.

  • http://tippmann98freak@netscape.net no PS3..

Too bad that all reports are stating that you will need a PS3 in order to download the games to your PSP.

Im hoping that they change this…if not the only people who will actually be able to play this are the select few who can afford to buy a PS3 for $3000 online.

I would love to play some Diable, Duke Nukem, FF

I doubt Diablo will have multiplayer, seeing as the original PSX game did not.
