I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

Nintendo: “We Will Sell Everything We Make”

Submitted by on November 29, 2006 – 2:47 pm3 Comments

Reggie_Be_Hungry.jpgYou probably already know, Nintendo sold 600,000 Wii’s in the US in only 8 days. Reggie Fils-Aime said today that they are on target with their 4 million unit goal by December 31st. That means they have to sell about 3.5 million units is just over a month! Think they can do it?

Reggie says it’s just a, “manufacturing thing [baby]“. Note that I added the, “baby” because Reggie’s got style, baby.

“All systems are go for reaching the 4-million target we have in our financials by December 31,” Fils-Aime told Reuters. The outspoken exec appears to be a believer in the “If you build it, they will come” mantra. “We will sell everything we make, so now it’s simply a manufacturing thing.”

I wouldn’t doubt that they can ship that many consoles and with Christmas coming, they should be the #1 selling console in America in December. Am I wrong?

Just to clarify, I think the 4 million goal is for worldwide sales of the Wii. In North America I believe they’re projecting sales of 2 million by the end of the year.

For comparison, the XBox 360 sold 1.42 million by end of year for its launch. PS2 sold 1.46 million by end of year for its launch. And Gamecube sold 1.2 million by end of year for its launch. If the Wii sells 2 million, that would be pretty impressive.

4 million? Wow! And I was worried that I wouldn’t get one when it’s released here on Dec 8 because I didn’t order one already. Guess that’s one thing less I’ve to worry about.

It will be tough, but I’m sure that sales will pick up once December kicks in and parents start to feel the christmas squeeze.
