Lumines: Meh

lumines-20050323042716648.jpgI know this is kind of old news at this point, but that’s why this is a blog. I can do whatever want. Kinda…

I decided instead of just being pissed off about the whole Lumines pricing thing, I’d give the game a try and see if by some fluke, the game was amazing enough to warrant the 1200 points (plus however much is required to get the FULL full game.)

You know that game that everyone with an Xbox HDD gets for free? Yeah, I like that game a lot better. And I got it for free. Or I can play it for free on MSN Games. Basically, every game that is comparable in quality and experience to Lumines Live is… well… fully accessible for free. If I need to get my console puzzle on THAT badly, I’ll break out my original Game Boy Tetris cart. (Look how pretentious I am. I said “cart”.)

I see little of value here. Oh boy, you mean I can get a pack of skins and music and junk? Um, I’m pretty sure I’ll be okay piping music of MY choice from my computer via Windows Media Player.

Don’t mind me… just killing time until Gears of War comes out.

I broke down and grabbed Lumines Live this weekend and was thoroughly disappointed. While it’s true that the gameplay is virtually untouched, the music and presentation really don’t translate well.

I played through it the other day, unlocked several skins, and ultimately regretted the investment.

That said, I still think it’s a must have PSP title.
