Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

If The Xbox 360 Launched Today

What_if_360_HDDVD_HDMI_250.jpgI was waiting to capture a Chromehounds Combas this weekend when I noticed a black Playstation 3 shirt that Sony gave me, tossed over a chair. Glancing back towards the screen and staring into my 360

Also, assume the supply problem would be solved by now and MS would launch with an abundant number of consoles while Sony is starved for unit.

I think that within about a year, the outcome would look similar to the way it will anyway. Just that xbox hardcore would have the box they should have gotten to begin with, but didn’t because MS put “first to market” ahead of superior machine.

I can’t wait for a year from now so we can get a good idea where this is all headed. The warriors will soon all be on the battlefield. MS has had the market to itself quite some time now. It will be interesting when there are 3 next gen consoles to choose from rather than just 1. I’m sure a lot of gamers who lean toward sony or nintendo bought the 360 to get their fix. Most games I know, even though they were more excited about 1 console or another, didn’t wait it out. Only the fanboy hardcore have ignored next gen gaming for a year just to be loyal to their console.

@Subnet6 – I was primarily a PS2 owner in the previous gen, but their repeated stumbles in the online scheme (although there are a few gems the 360 has yet to match) and a super-cheap Used 360 dropping in my lap pushed me other the edge on it.

I try to be as open as possible towards all formats. I do admit to having a special mini-hatred towards Nintendo ever since they screwed up Mario Kart 64, which led me to buy a Playstation and the rest is history.

Why play “what if” since it didn’t happen? The main difference between XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 is that the 360 has been out for a year and has a semi-massive list of games already. Some of these are already discounted and represent a good value.

All else being equal, I’d probably choose the 360 all over again because of XBLArcade, the backwards compatibility with (some) XBOX games (which I still prefer to PS2), and the fact that Microsoft’s games team seems a lot less arrogant than Sony’s.

I would still have to choose xbox, because they know how to do online, unlike nintendo and sony.

    @James,

Funny how things work. I have always liked Nintendo. In fact, Mario Kart 64 is one of those games that I think helped solidify my long term support for their endeavors. To each his own, I say, gamers are an elaborate group and everyones tastes differ. I’m glad this is so. (I really loved MK:DD)

I would say, having a mini-hatred towards a company for anything involving something as silly/trivial as a mario kart title is a bit extreme, but thats just me. :)

I’ve been a gamer too long for stuff like that.
I was a raging fanboy in the ninty vs. sega days and now I realize how much great content I missed out on because I was a 13 year old douche bag (thats one of the reasons I’m looking forward to the Wii as ironic as that may seem).

Nowadays, I get much less judgemental and I give pretty much every game and console a fair shake because you never know where the next metroid prime/halo/RE4/GTA is going to show up. Anyone who missed a console last gen, missed some great gaming.

Well, don’t get me wrong, I do own a DS so my mini-hatred is more just disappointment in Nintendo for not taking full advantage of their great licenses.

They really dropped the ball with the online play on the Gamecube and even the DS, hopefully they can recoup their losses this time around.

“They really dropped the ball with the online play on the Gamecube”

    Word.

Lets hope for the best. Same goes for PS3.
