The Wiire has the scoop from Famitsu on Grasshopper’s stylish assassin leaderboard climbing simulation (whew!) Heroes. They’ve renamed it to No More Heroes, perhaps to avoid purchase by fans of the ABC TV series. On the other hand, maybe the game’s just been cancelled, and this is what it would have been about?

The description of the game makes it sound kind of sandboxy, with various missions and things, which could be interesting. More interesting is the game’s take on swordfighting with the “beam katana” seen in the trailer which appeared earlier this year, embedded below for your enjoyment.

No More Heroes will have players holding the Wii Remote in three different positions – upwards, downwards or centered – to determine Travis’ fighting position. Pressing the A button repeatedly will issue standard sword swipes, while finishing moves require that the Wii Remote to be swung in accordance with on-screen prompts. In addition, shaking the controller will charge energy in the Beam Katana.

The article says summer 2007 in Japan, a couple of months later in the US. I didn't want to include that in the article because release dates are so nebulous these days.
  • I always thought that the way Killer7 plays would
work well on the Wii. That game would be playable with the Wii-remote only . But this sounds interesting too, is it known when this game is ready for release? Can't wait to see what kind of twisted plot Suda51 came up this time.
