Happy Japanese PS3 launch day!

A few bits of news:
You’ll have to use composite cables to set up your PS3, then choose the option in the XMB to switch over to HDMI, if desired. Gizmodo
Even though Sony’s going to replace dead controllers, Gizmodo notes that the manual shows you how to remove the battery, so perhaps we can swap them out ourselves. But why turn down a free new controller?
QJ.net has a (slightly confusing) list of the 1.1 firmware updates – I think English is not this person’s first language. The first update requires 110MB of hard drive space, at least until it installs. You can grab it from the Internet and put it on a media card if you don’t want to hook your PS3 up.
Apparently, the PS3 allows any third-party software to be installed. What will this hold in store?
