Gears of War Online Ranking “Broken”
Richard pointed out earlier that Epic is working on a patch for Gears of War to improve some minor stability issues. I’ve heard of connection issues from friends but passed them off as just network overload due to Emergence Day. Gamer Andy, however, has a different problem.
Gamer Andy went off on a rampage regarding the ranked matches in Gears of War. He blasted Gears, calling it, “broken” due to it’s easily abused online ranking scheme. While I’m patiently awaiting my copy of the game, I know I wouldn’t play a ranked match whether it was, “broken” or not. Ranked matches tend to be where the A-Holes hang out.
As if that wasn’t proof enough, after the game when I was leaving him feedback I noticed his motto, which reads “real account is [name protected because i've already filed a terms of service complaint about him with MS].”
Needless to say, the real GamerTag had the same clan tags as the guys on the other team. Bottom line here, thanks to the way ranked games are handled, it’s stupidly easy to not only get friends on your team but also get a friend with a 48-hour pass on the other team to tilt the odds that much more in your favor.
I’m sorry but, as I said, I stopped playing Ranked matches a long time ago. As far as I’m concerned, every game should be ranked. Who cares if people keep abusing it, if they need that to get their jollies then let them. I sure as hell won’t be the guy padding their numbers, though.

I stopped playing ranked matches, as well. And for the same reason. I like to play a game with people that just want to have a good time. No cursing your mother and your entire family (including, of course, your dead grandmother) just because you made a mistake.
Let the rank whores do what they do. The game is too good to care about rank. If they get it solved then all the better but if you play for fun like you should it shouldn’t affect you.
