Don’t trade in your PS2 just yet

Apparently the PS3 is having a few backwards-compatibility issues, but I’m sure they’ll be fixed in firmware updates. Just hang onto that PS2 if you can’t wait for all your games to work on the PS3. Errors include audio not playing properly and, in 2D games, a box around your character. Oddly enough, PS2 HDD games, like Final Fantasy XI, aren’t supported yet. A few of the other really big games with problems:
Valkyrie Profile – Silmeria:
When playing FMV – sound problems.
Valkyrie Profile
BGM and SFX problems
Sakura Taisen I remake
Title animation freezes
Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden
Voice play-back problems in game.
Minna-no-Golf4 (hotshot golf)
Delayed button press recognition

FFXI will not be PS3 compatible, that is PS2 only. They signed a deal with the 360 for the next generation.
Don’t forget about the HD adaptor for the PS2. It is a great way to make your PS2 like a PS3!
