Would you wait to buy a console for color?

I’m curious. Would you wait to buy a console just to get a different color than the default? I didn’t wait for the black or pink DS Lites, although I’m normally a sucker for special edition consoles. (I heart my NES limited edition GBA SP!) For that one, the benefit of having a DS Lite outweighed my desire to wait for a new color. (I had an electric blue DS Phat that I bought a skin for.)

Would you pay more to get a console in a different color, like Sony’s colored PS2s that were offered from their site? If there was a service like Colorware for the iPods, would you send your console in to be painted? Do you buy skins, or are you happy with your console regardless of its design?

And since we’re on the subject, if you’re interested, a silver slim PS2 ships to the US next week, which, according to NCSX, not even Japan has had released.

If I saw something that really struck my fancy such as a certain color or design then I might pick it up if I had the money to spend and nothing better to spend it on.

The thing could be lime green and it wouldnt matter to me. I would however trade in a current one for a cooler color.

Not as exclusive asn NCSX would have you believe. We’ve had the silver slimline in Australia (and Europe I think) for quite a while.

i would like to be able to get a limited color for a game system but i more than likely wont have the money when it is released or i would have already have it, and i can’t justify selling my old system to get the same thing in a differnet color(halo xbox)

I don’t plan to get a Wii until they have something other than white. Well, and because I want to wait for the first round of games to lower in price.

Well if the original console was bright pink or teal, than yeah I’d wait for a better color. But if a black 360 or Wii came out I wouldn’t bother with replacing/waiting.

Black would have been my first choice, but I’ll buy the white because it would have been my second choice. When the black comes out, then I’ll make a decision if I want to rebuy it to get my first choice. The same went for the DS Lite, however, I haven’t bought the black because I’m pretty satisfied with white. I did own the original DS and traded it in when the Lite came out but that was a much bigger upgrade than just color.

I bought a black shell for my 360, and waited for the onyx ds, they match the Samsung LCD rather shiny black-like

nintendo fanboys would buy a new ds if it was the “special deffected edition”. pretty much all nintendo fans got the ds AND ds lite bringing its cost to more than the psp. thats how nintendo survives, by minor gimmiky upgrades to their systems. all of the gameboys were basicly the same hardly any graphical improvment. two months after nintendo fanboys buy the wii they will be back out to buy one of a different color or one with dvd playback. and the wiis FULL controller cost more than 60 bucks. you have to buy the wand the nunchuck and the “classic shell” in order to enjoy all games. I bet you could get a ps3 with an extra controller for the same price as a wii and two FULL controllers and that ethernet adapter that should be built in.
