Square Enix backs the Wii’s Virtual Console

Looks like Square Enix will allow some re-releases of their older games for the Wii. It’s good news, although we’re already seeing the re-release of a bunch of the Final Fantasy games on both the GBA and the DS. I think I’d rather have them in handheld form myself. They haven’t mentioned what games will be released on the Wii. Other companies supporting the Virtual Console include Atlus, Bandai, Banpresto, Namco, Sega, and many more. Though we don’t have confirmation on the American version of the Virtual Console, Nintendo hopes to have 60 titles available at launch for Japanese gamers, and then release 10 games a month thereafter.
