Reggie Fils-Aime Interview

fils-aime-nintendo-200a-092.jpgScott Jones & Libe Goadaol of AOL games recently sat down with Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime to drill him about why he thinks the Wii will succeed. When asked what his dream job is and what he’d rather be doing, Reggie replied:

“…But if I suddenly hit the lottery? And didn’t have to work tomorrow? You’d probably find me on an island somewhere being a dive instructor. The kind of dive instructor where if I like my clients, let’s go diving! And if I don’t? I’d tell them to go somewhere else.”

Say what? To most gamer people, you have the dream job, man. I think that was a trick question and you failed. Your answer should’ve been “I’m living my dream job”. At least, that’s what I would’ve said, but I’m not the Chief Operating Officer.

The pair also brought up the the Wii-mote, likening it to the dust-collecting Bongo Controller, Powerglove and Virtua Boy. Reggie’s response: “Three games that made use of the bongos? It’s not enough.” Sure the Wii-mote will utilize all games, but why did they come out with a standard controller on top of that? Do I sense the fear of dust?
