PSM3 Mag Passionately Plays The PS3

Submitted by Shane on October 2, 2006 – 1:57 pmComments

The lucky folks at PSM3 Mag had a little friendly office visit from the men in black on September 29th. Two Sony reps stopped by and dropped of a shiny PS3 for their distraction and review – so if we don’t see any magazines from them next month, we’ll know why. All in all, they were impressed with it’s load times, interface, controller lightness/response time and console quietness, but weren’t that giddy about how heavy and shiny it was. However those two points aren’t a big deal at all. They played Motorstorm and Resistance only to have the machine taken away later that day. With PSM Mag stating that it was a final machine – Sony has in fact completed the beast and is now playing a catch up game. More pics and thoughts on the site here. Video of the excitement below:

  • Browsing through the PSM3 website, this is what they had to say:

"Our friends at Sony have asked us to remove the video from this site. This video showed a final PS3 test machine working and playing MotorStorm in the PSM3 office (and a crowd of men drooling at its majesty). It's a shame but, in order to return the favour for letting us play on PS3 we want to do as they ask. Yes, we love PS3, yes, we only want to say great things about it, and yes, this video proved that PS3 is alive and not only 'well' but 'brilliant' BUT we've been told that the time isn't right for the mighty Sony to reveal such magic to the world. Rest assured that as soon as we have our own PS3 (possibly within the next two weeks) we'll be singing its praises (and videoing its ass off). In the meantime, for more on the PS3, that video and further inside info check out our next blog, coming later today."
  • Gah!
Gah! Someone took the video down!
  • The PlayStation 3 interface looks pretty snazzy, though is it just me or does the text look rather small to read about 10 feet away?

I don't know how well that motion sensor thingy will work with a normal controller. Thinking about it, I usually move my controller around when I'm playing games on the Xbox 360, not to move with the game but to move to adjust body position, rest arms, etc. With the combination of a Wii-like feature with a general controller, It'd take some adjusting for me to play games correctly.

To me, I think Nintendo did it right compared to Sony. They changed the whole look of the controller so it feels like something new rather than something old with the inclusion of motion sensor thingy majiggy.

That is so very cool. What an excellent feeling it is to fire up a brand spankin' new console.

I don't care how rediculously expensive it is. :-D

Brr. Is it cold in here or is it just the PS3 interface?
