Phantasy Star Universe Open Beta

Phantasy_Star_Universe.jpgFor those of you with an Xbox Live Gold account, Sega is going to have a free open beta of Phantasy Star Universe available for download on October 11th and 12th. I’ve mentioned my interest in the title before and the free beta will give me and anyone else on the fence (or just plain bored) a chance to try it out first.

The game will be released on October 24th, simultaneously on the PC, PS2 and 360. Players on Xbox 360 will be limited to playing with 360 players in the US and Japan, where PC and PS2 players can interact on the same servers. However, the Xbox 360 version will be the only version to benefit from in-game voice chat.

The lack of the 360 version sharing servers with the PC and PS2 versions might doom it to fail.

    Wow, this is such great news! I don’t have an XBL Gold account, though, hopefully it will work with the Gold you get from creating a new Gamertag. =\

    I think you’re right about it being doomed to fail, though. If I recall PSO on Xbox didn’t do so well compared to the others, and I already plan on getting the PS2 version of PSU so I can play with my girlfriend even though I’d much rather play the prettier 360 version.

    In any case, at least this will be a nice trial for a week to tide me over! ^_^
