According to some news from Cubed3, via a low-key Nintendo conference in Japan, by spring 2007 Nintendo is going to launch its Wii Compact Software line. This line will feature downloadable titles, doing away with discs, manuals, and boxes.

Some other news bits:

Shiggy has unveiled a “health pack” for the Wii, related to something called a Family Health Check (??).

The Cooking Navi cookbook for DS is getting a wifi-enabled sequel, and will include a fridge magnet holder for your DS.

Between launch and the end of the year, Japan will be getting 18 more Wii titles (besides launch titles) and a total of 60 Virtual Console titles.

Japan’s Gamecube version of Twilight Princess will be released only online.

EA is working on a Wii-specific version of The Sims.

well that just sucks. I am personally a big-time collector, and i don’t see any reason for downloads to be mandatory just to get a game. i like buying a game, then showing it off to everyone.
